Spooky Sew Progress from Life in the Scrapatch

My first four blocks for my

Spooky Mystery ~ Started Here

I have not really chosen any one stack of fabrics.

As I cut and sew, I am picking from all in my stash as my quilty muse speaks.

It likely means my finished quilt may be very different from

the sample for the pattern.

There are two more weeks of blocks now available on their website:

Are you almost ready for Halloween? If not, I have some treats for you of the quilty kind!

A Halloween Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Remember these orphan blocks I found in a bag of scraps dropped off by a good friend?  Well, I am ready to share the quilt I finished using them.

I know many of you asked me how to make these blocks.  Well, the truth is I could never quite figure it out.  I think they were strip pieced using two fabrics.  Cut and then sewn back together again.  I believe they are one of those designs that when you sew them back together, you get a positive and a negative block.  You can see what I am talking about in ...

On my Design Wall from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the projects I have going on right now.  So I am trying to finish a few quilt tops.

Remember these orphan blocks I received from a friend?

I have sewed, trimmed and added some gray sashing to the blocks.

I ended up with enough blocks to create 5 rows. At first I tried a random color placement but found I liked this grouped placement best.

When it came time to add the horizontal sashing, I wanted to add a bit more color.  I found a pink fabric for some corner stones ...

Completely Side Tracked! from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

This weekend, a dear friend sent me a text to let me know she was bringing me a quilt to have quilted.  Then she asked..."I found some orphan blocks.  Do you want them?"

Well, you can guess what my answers was!

Now I have no reason to adopt more orphan blocks.  I have already outgrown my orphan block suitcase and the second box I created is already over-flowing.  But the temptation of something new to play with was just too strong.

There are quite an assortment of various blocks but the ones that caught my attention were some improv ...

Jazz up your indoor Halloween decor this year with these Halloween quilts – 2 patterns you will love as they are easy, fast, and fun!

Photograph by Quilter’s World. Used with permission.

The first quilt is called Haunted House. It measures 37″ x 37″ and the blocks finish at 12″ and 6″. Simple log cabin blocks frame the center applique’, with the cat and bat adding movement to the design. I chose to make the quilt center lighter and the borders dark and bold for interest and contrast.

Let's See If I Remember How to Blog from Stella Bella Quilts

Well hello there (especially to Dianne who reminded me that I need to blog and read my emails more often).   I guess it's been a over a year since I posted. Wow time goes by.  I've been Instagramming so if you've missed the cats, images around NM, more cats, and a few quilts you can find me over there (@stellabellaquilts).

We are all fine. Cats are happy, S. is happy, I am happy.  Santa Fe is marvelous. I just fell out of the blogging ritual and maybe turned a little inward.  There's too much to catch ...
